Thank you for visiting SaveTheSpindle.com and for your support. The mission of the Friends of the Spindle Foundation and SaveTheSpindle.com is the restoration, preservation and maintenance of the Spindle sculpture by Dustin Shuler currently located in the Cermak Plaza in Berwyn, Illinois USA.

Our fundraising efforts will be targeted toward soliciting donations from supporters of this work of art which would go toward reaching the goals outlined below:

1. Moving the Spindle to a new location, if the Spindle must be torn down;
2. Re-creation of the Spindle in its new location, which could involve costs including,
but not limited to:

A. re-fabrication of the 50-foot steel spike on which the cars are impaled;
B. excavation for the foundation to place the Spindle in its new location;
C. concrete for the foundation of the Spindle;
D. labor costs which may include:

1. rental of a crane and operator to position the cars on the metal spike,
2. labor for the installation of the spike, setting it in the concrete foundation,
3. labor for welding for structural support issues.
E. Any replacement cars or body work that would need to be done on existing cars which might be salvageable after the Spindle is taken down;
F. Cost of leasing space long-term at Cermak Plaza (or elsewhere) to guarantee that the Spindle will not risk a similar fate in the future;
G. Maintenance and development to provide for “green” space around the newly-constructed Spindle, so that the artwork will be able to be enjoyed in an aesthetically pleasing environment;
H. Cost of regular maintenance and cleaning to ensure the sculpture will be preserved in a respectful way.

We at the Friends of the Spindle Foundation and SaveTheSpindle.com realize that even with your financial support, that there is a possibility, due to circumstances beyond our control, that our mission may not be successful. If we feel that we will not be able to reasonably meet our goal to preserve, restore and maintain the Spindle, all donations will be directed towards supporting the
other non-profit arts organizations in Berwyn and surrounding communities.

We sincerely appreciate your support of our efforts and we hope, that with your financial help we will be successful in our endeavor. Please feel free to contact us at info@savethespindle.com if you have any questions, suggestions or concerns regarding our campaign to save this landmark work of art.

Sincerely,
